Dear Sisters,
I hope this newsletter finds you all well and enjoying Fall. This Fall is special for me, because it marks 30 years since I pledged Delta with my Divine Nine sisters. My time as a Delta active was so much fun, and I have wonderful memories of our time on campus together, but I had no idea back then how important Delta would be in my life as an alumna. While I continue to have cherished relationships with the women I was active with, the purple bond of friendship has expanded to include Deltas from across the decades, every single one of whom is beautiful, intelligent, dynamic, and “a Delta girl through and through.” When I think of the Deltas I know — active and alumni — I think about how fortunate I am to have these women in my life.
My experience is not unique. We all share this bond, and it is always so special to connect with our Delta sisters. Delta’s Executive Council has made facilitating connections between alumni sisters a priority. We have established a Membership Committee whose focus will be engaging our alumni members, whether you are a recent graduate just beginning your alum life or a sister who graduated years ago and is looking to connect or reconnect. We are excited about this focus on engagement and encourage you to join us at future Delta gatherings!
Speaking of gatherings, here are some upcoming events that you won’t want to miss: Delta’s annual Cuca’s and a Cold One Homecoming gathering will take place on Saturday, October 14th, from 12-2 p.m. at the Delta House, hosted by the Delta/San Fernando Valley alumni chapter. Join your sisters for tasty Cuca’s burritos, recognition of the 2023 Delta Girl of the Year and Delta scholarship recipients, and of course, singing some traditional Delta songs!
The 114th Delta Birthday Luncheon will be held in Spring 2024, hosted by the Omega/San Diego alumni chapter. Keep your eyes on your mailbox and inbox for Save-the-Date cards and more information about what promises to be a fantastic day for Lavender Ladies. Delta’s alumni chapters have active social calendars. Please refer to the Alumni Chapter Directory in this newsletter or on deltakappapsi.org for your local chapter’s contact information. And if there is no alumni chapter in your area, please reach out to Executive Council — starting an alumni chapter is easy, and we can help you!
I hope you have a wonderful Fall and Winter, and I and look forward to seeing you at Homecoming!
In Delta Love,
Liz Peale Hind
