2023 Making a Difference Outstanding Community Service Award

Congratulations to Isabelle Goslan, our recipient of the 2023 Making a Difference Outstanding Community Service Award!

The Delta Kappa Psi Alumni Executive Council established the Making a Difference Outstanding Community Service Award in May 2019 to honor a current Initiated Member/Active (1) who is
making a significant contribution to her community through volunteering her time and talent and (2) whose dedication serves as a role model for her peers.

Isabelle was chosen by the Selection Committee in recognition of her having shown exceptional service and compassion by volunteering her time to various organizations on campus and in the
community.

This Delta has volunteered for Big Buddies, Jasper’s Corner, the Loma Linda University Vaccine Clinic, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Intern at the UR and the Open Cultural Center in Barcelona,
Spain.

Big Buddies is a children’s program at the UR that provides 1:1 mentorship with elementary, middle and high school students from the Redlands community. Isabelle was a mentor for 4 months for a total of 182 hours.

Jasper’s Corner is a children’s tutoring program at the UR that provides academic assistance with the goal of fostering the skills necessary to become independent, successful learners in our
community. Isabelle was a volunteer tutor 8 months for a total of 208 hours.

At the Loma Linda University Vaccine Clinic, she served as a translator speaking Spanish and basic Mandarin. Isabelle was a volunteer for 8 months for a total of 112 hours.

As a DEI Intern at the UR, she created a webpage with detailed resources for DACA and Dreamer students and collaborated with Campus DEI and with students in relevant affinity clubs for their
input for the webpage. She volunteered for 4 months for a total of 130 hours.

At the Open Cultural Center in Barcelona, she spent 4 months for a total of 100 hours helping migrants with tools to access opportunities and providing dinners for some recently arrived
Ukrainian refugees.

This Delta plans on dedicating her life to serving immigrant communities in the United States through her future career and service work.

Isabelle received a certificate and a monetary award and her name will be engraved on a perpetual plaque that will hang in the Delta House. In addition, a donation will be made in her name to a
charity of her choice.
